Minutes for the WSWCD meeting February 12, 2026, held at the Wakulla County Extension Office, 84 Cedar Avenue, Crawfordville, Fl 32327
The meeting was called to order to order at 6:04 pm by Secretary Cal Jamison. Other members present were Emily Johnson and Cole Hall
Guest: Clay Bania, new Director of Wakulla County Extension Office
The Agenda was unanimously approved. Moved by Emily and seconded by Cole.
The minutes for the January 8, 2026, meeting were approved unanimously after Cole’s name was corrected. Moved by Cole and seconded by Emily.
Treasurer Report: There was no bank statement received in time for the meeting.
There were no citizens to be heard.
Old Business:
Post Arbor Day discussion, Poster Contest update and Website update were postponed until the March 12, 2026 meeting.
Discussion with Clay Bania. He introduced himself and gave his background and interests and his goals for the Extension Office. Common areas of interest and cooperation with our District was emphasized.
New Business:
Annual Financial Report for the Department of Financial Services was noted and discussed.
Supervisor of Elections request for District Supervisor information on office holders and intent to run in the next election. Cal provided the requested information and copied the supervisors.
Florida Ethics Commission Coordinator appointment and appointment letters and training.
Cal was appointed the Coordinator for the WSWCD by the Commission and he collected the required information and updated the Ethics website with list of five supervisors and contact information. Supervisors can log on to the website for required training. Supervisors were copied.
Goals for the year will be posted to the website per FDAC requirements and will be discussed at the March 12 meeting.
Supervisor Items: Cole brought up the Working Waterfronts and ways to support it were discussed.
Cal gave the springs update and noted that the Wakulla Springs visibility is still hovering in the thirty-foot range with suspended solids being the main culprit for the poor visibility. Conductivity has risen recently due to the reversal of Spring Creek. Draught conditions continue and are main contributing factor to the reversal. Plenty of manatees and waterfowl on the river.
The meeting was adjourned at 7pm. Moved by Cole and seconded by Emily.
